A pediatric urologist specializes in the treatment of children and young adults who have problems involving the kidney, bladder, urethra, and reproductive organs (ovaries, uterus, vagina, testicles, and penis).

University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital is home to Iowa’s only board specialty certified pediatric urologists. Children are still growing, so it’s important that they are seen by someone with extensive knowledge and training in children’s care. Our pediatric urologists have undergone two years of additional pediatric urology training following their general urology residency.

All children receive care from a team that specializes in treating children. That team includes pediatric urologists, pediatricians, nurses, pediatric radiologists, pediatric anesthesiologists, child life specialists, and other health care professionals.
