Make a Difference at UI Health Care
Volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the experience of our patients, families, visitors, and staff. By complementing the work of our professional team, volunteers help create a more comfortable and welcoming environment across the hospital—greeting guests, assisting with transport, and offering support and companionship.
Community Volunteer Program
Volunteer Services seeks dedicated individuals for long-term service. Community volunteers are asked to commit to at least six months of active volunteering, with a weekly three-hour shift. This six-month commitment begins following onboarding and placement.
To begin the preregistration process, you must be at least 18 years old. Those under 18 interested in health sciences should explore UI Health Care STEM Education program. Undergraduate and graduate students pursuing health care careers are encouraged to join our College Student program.
During flu season, volunteers in patient-facing roles must receive the seasonal flu vaccine. Those who opt out can still contribute in non-patient-facing positions.
Reliable community volunteers receive complimentary parking during service.
